Ermina H., in Raquel Wilhelm’s Maryland cluster, spent a morning with children ages 2 to 4 in a Discovering Music class in Montgomery County’s recreation department. For her Global Awareness presentation she prepared information about Bosnia and Herzegovina, show photos of traditional meals, dance, clothes, and places. She taught them to count in Bosnian, named colors, parts of body, etc. At the end of they sang Sijaj sijaj zvezdice/ Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Bosnian and English.

Ermina is one of Au Pair in America’s top presenters and was chosen as an Au Pair Explorer. She always goes above and beyond and did so again, as she prepared music flutes as a gift for each child.

Ermina writes about her experience: “From conducting this presentation I learned how much we have to share, and how fun it is to learn and experience something new. This class presentation connected us more because we had the opportunity to meet each other better…. We exchanged phone numbers and scheduled playdates where we bring traditional food which we make at home (my host kid and I made HURMAŠICE- those are traditional Bosnian cookies).

I would to share this citation with you, to remind us to every day learn and work on ourselves, and most importantly don’t forget to have fun: “The world is a university and everyone in it is a teacher. Make sure when you wake up in the morning, you go to school.” ―T. D. Jakes „Svijet je univerzitet i svako u njemu je nastavnik. Pobrinite se kada se probudite ujutro, da idete u školu.“ T.D. Jakes
