Italian au pair Marta B. chose a creative way to teach the 26 5th graders at Braddock Elementary in Los Angeles, CA about her homeland. She created a slideshow with pictures of art depicting important times in Italian history. She also had photos of popular Italian food, like pizza, and relayed the story behind the food. We’re sure the children’s mouths were watering by the end of the presentation.
In addition she gave them a language lesson and by the end she greeted all the students by saying “ciao” and they all said ciao back to her. She was so excited that the students picked up on their short language lesson that she said she couldn’t imagine a more beautiful conclusion to her time with the students.
