Au Pair in America Explorer for September
Solenne T. from France in Melinda Brooks’ Massachusetts cluster.
Melinda nominated Solenne as an Au Pair in America Explorer because she said: ” Solenne attended a majority of her cluster meetings, and most of our additional cultural enrichment regional meetings. She was a reliable welcomer to all new au pairs, regardless of where they were from. She even organized an Independence Day Welcome Party at her home for the new au pair summer arrivals, with just a few months to go before her departure. Solenne wanted to expand her world and she did! I will seriously miss Solenne in our cluster but hope that she has shown others how to be more as an au pair here!”
Solenne traveled all over New England, Disney World, Sanibel, Useppa Island, which she said was probably her favorite place in Florida. On a road trip she went to Arizona and Utah and ended in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also traveled outside of the United States with trips to Quebec City, Niagara Falls and Aruba!
She was able to join her host family in their volunteering activities in their community as they included her in everything they participated in. Solenne thoroughly enjoyed her two years as an au pair in the United States and now has made it her goal to visit all 50 states – 44 left on the list!
What is an Au Pair in America Explorer?
These are au pairs who embrace all aspects of the au pair program (volunteering, attending monthly cluster activities, attending webinars, discovering new places) and for those going above and beyond, sharing their culture through Global Awareness.
