Au Pair in America Explorers for June
Community Counselors have identified these three au pairs as the Au Pair in America Explorers for June.
Anna L. from Germany in Christine Meek’s Stamford, CT cluster.
Anna truly embodies all aspects of a Cultural Ambassador!
Not only does Anna attend and participate in our monthly cluster meetings, she also attends our weekly Starbucks meetings as well. She volunteered at the Stamford Hospital Bennett Cancer Center Hope in Motion Walk and also presented at the Rippowam Middle School Diversity Day. In addition, she has volunteered to present to first graders at Northeast Elementary School next week.
Anna always has a smile on her face and is eager to participate and try new experiences. She loves being a “buddy” to new au pairs who have just arrived and takes them under her wing and shows them the area. She is a true leader and encourages her friends and other au pairs to participate in our cluster activities and embrace all that our area has to offer.
During her year, Anna has visited:Montreal, Niagara Falls, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, and New York City.
She attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College Learning Across America Class: Montreal: French in America, took a class Entitled Social Media Erosion or Explosion at SUNY Purchase and taught a class at Norwalk Community College on Blogging for Business/Pleasure.
Diana from Colombia in Lyzbeth Best’s New Hampshire cluster.
Diana is smart, kind, motivated and energetic. She has a bubbly personality and she has jumped right into family life, becoming involved in the host children’s school, and cluster life. She is very motivated to learn more about the preschool system in the United States and she currently spends time volunteering and sharing her Columbian culture with her host children’s schools. She recently enjoyed singing Columbian songs and sharing the uniqueness of Columbia’s flag.
She takes advantage of all of our cluster meetings. She arrived in March and she came to our first event which was Maple Sugar Tasting. She had never tried it before and was eager too. In June, she went whale watching. She was prepared in her parka and hat and didn’t leave the boats helm the entire trip! She was excited for the adventure. After whale watching she rushed back because she wanted to see her host child’s piano recital. She is embracing her life as a family member with her host family and we all think she is just a terrific asset to our cluster!
Anna S. from Poland in Natalie Skidmore’s Washington, D.C. Cluster
Anna is an Au Pair Extraordinaire from Poland. She is taking the UCLA class and is a frequent and VERY enthusiastic participant in my cluster meetings. She loves to teach people about Poland and its culture, plus welcome new girls, and serve our community.
She is always out and about in DC and recently visited the White House plus she just returned from NYC. Anna just volunteered with my clusterat the Girls on the Run 5K race helping cheer young girls across the finish line on Pennsylvania Ave with the Capitol Building in the background. She also represented APIA volunteering at the NYC Marathon! She has also done a Global Awareness presentation. Anna is an amazing example of what this program is about: cultural exchange, exploration & adventure, fabulous childcare, and a heart of gold.
