Au Pair in America Explorer for November

Marie H. from the Czech Republic in Marianne Grandin’s New Canaan, CT cluster.

Community Counselor Marianne Grandin nominated Marie as an Au Pair in America Explorer because she said: “Not only did she do the Global Awareness presentation (see blog post), in September she volunteered to work at the International Tent at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, CT that a neighboring community counselor hosted at a fundraiser 5K sponsored by the Only You non-profit which helps special needs kids. She answered questions and told kids about her country, then stamped their passports.”

Marie has walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, and explored Philadelphia. This is what she wrote to her community counselor about her travels: “

I’ve been in New York City a few times and in Philadelphia, Princeton University and Yale University. Next Saturday 11/23 I’m going to Florida (Orlando, Miami, Key West) and I’m super excited. I think New Haven and Yale is my favourite place so far. I think that will change when I’ll come back from Florida.

Marie regularly attends cluster meetings and is registered for the Red Cross certification in First Aid.

What is an Au Pair in America Explorer?

These are au pairs who embrace all aspects of the au pair program (volunteering, attending monthly cluster activities, attending webinars, discovering new places) and for those going above and beyond, sharing their culture through Global Awareness.
