Holidays Around the World is the December theme for presentations. Children from pre-school to middle will learn how traditions vary from one culture to the next. Not everyone celebrates Christmas! Santa is St Nick in some countries, and candies are left in shoes for German children. In a cluster in CT, we shared our cultures with food from many different countries. Brigadeiros from Brazil, potato salad and sausage from Germany, sweets from Sweden (though the different flour didn’t allow the recipe to rise), Pad Thai from Thailand and a yummy chicken, pineapple and curry salad from Denmark. As we talked about “Christmas at home,” we found ourselves coloring flags from our country on the paper tablecloths (crayons were provided so we knew drawing was encouraged). Here’s what we left behind: a memento of united nations!
